Staff in child development homes need current certification in first aid that includes management of an obstructed airway and rescue breathing. If the first aid course does not include those two things, you must also maintain a current CPR certificate. The American Heart Association's Heartsave Pediatric First Aid Course is an approved First Aid and Rescue Breathing training for registered homes.

Staff in licensed centers and preschools need current certification in First Aid and CPR.

Call an instructor below to find out when they are offering a class. You may also take CPR and first aid classes at hospitals, community colleges, or American Red Cross. Some local rescue teams also have personnel that are qualified to teach CPR and first aid. The classes should include certification in infant, child and adult. The instructor should use one of curriculum below. These are:

Some instructor or hospitals do not offer CPR and/or First Aid on a regular basis. When they have enough people on the list, they will have a class.
