Child Care Resource and Referral sponsors many individual workshops to help
licensed center staff and child development home staff meet annual training
requirements. The content of these include, but are not limited to:
 |
Health, Safety -
These workshops
that will help you maintain a healthy and safe child care and education
program. Staff in Child Development Homes must have 2 hours of health and
safety training in their first year or registration. |
 |
Nutrition - Children need to eat healthy meals
and snacks so their brains and bodies can develop. Children also need
activities that help them learn to move and be active, instead of watching
television or playing video games. A CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program)
sponsor has approved most of the nutrition classes listed below. |
 |
Standard precautions - Licensed center and preschool staff must take
this every year. Child Development Home providers may count this as one hour
of health and safety training. |
 |
First aid - These classes should include certification in both infant
and child first aid. The class must include management of a blocked airway and
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If you cannot find a first aid class that offers
this, you must also take a CPR class. |
 |
CPR - Providers must have this if they cannot find a first aid class
that includes mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and management of a blocked airway. |
All providers
can gain knowledge and new insight from attending training and are welcome in all
classes that interest them, no matter what their experience is.
