Checking References

References can help you make your final decision about a caregiver. Request references the caregiver. When you call the references ask the following questions:

How long has your child been in the home or center?

bullet

How does your child feel about the caregiver?

bullet

What do you like about the caregiver and his or her methods?

bullet

Is there anything you do not like about the caregiver's methods?

bullet

Is it easy to talk to the caregiver?

bullet

Is the caregiver open to your child's individual needs?

bullet

How does the caregiver deal with problems or concerns?

bullet

What kind of discipline does the caregiver use?

bullet

What would you like to see the caregiver do differently?

bullet
