PITC Module I - Social-Emotional Growth & Socialization Getting in Tune - This introductory class emphasizes the importance of a nurturing relationship between the infant and caregiver. Learn the importance of responding to individual needs, and how to support the critical role of family and culture. Temperaments - This interactive class introduces the nine temperament traits and three temperament types of infants and toddlers. Participants discover how their own temperament affects their relationship with the infants and toddlers. Social-Emotional Milestones, Responsive Caregiving and Identity - Learn about the three stages of infancy, and relate them to developmental milestones. Explore the importance of responsiveness and how it affects self esteem and identity formation. Understanding Children's Behavior - Caregivers will learn to recognize the source of different infant/toddler behaviors and identify appropriate strategies for working with them. Guidance & Discipline with Infants and Toddlers - This session explores the roots of socialization, as well as specific guidance techniques appropriate for children as they grow from birth to three years old. |
